We include in our watchlist the ETF Lyxor THA (SET50 Thailand Index) with a fee of 0.45% and an AUM of c.€15M. The Thai index is up 6.8% YTD, with a sharp recovery since August.
The Thai index remains correlated to commodities (agricultural and energy) which are currently rebounding. In particular, the price of rubber flies, while the country supplies 30% of world production. Moreover, the good performance of the Chinese economy is also a favorable factor.
The monthly chart shows that a rebound took place in August, which allowed the upward trend to resume its course. The bounce is only 3 weeks and the index has a significant upside potential over the the medium term.
